Bismarck, ND -Washburn, ND (Fort Mandan) - Stanton, ND (Knife River Indian Villages)- Medora, ND. WE began at the most excellent Heritage Center in Bismarck. this museum is one big open space with very open three dimensional exhibits. Pictured are the Capitol, Sakakawea Statue and our bus. Then it was on to the excellent Interpretive Center at Washburn, ND. ok

Lunch was at the re-created Fort Mandan, where Connie McClain raised our flag and we had a talk by veteran re-enactor Gary Anderson.

Then it was on to the Knife River Indian Villages, where we saw the remains of Sakakawea's village. The Corps of Discovery built Fort Mandan near two Mandan and three Hidatsa villages  composed of many earth lodges.
